Dave (LifeKludger) Wallace helped me attend the TechSoup Net Tuesday ‘Mixed Reality’ event in Second Life this morning. It started a tad clunky, but once things got underway I could really get a sense of being there.

Hilights for me were catching Jeska from Linden Labs working on her slide deck sitting underneath her pictureboard, learning how to build a pictureboard and import a photo (see the LearnDog image next to Dave’s), and meeting a very busy Beth Kanter who seemed a tad distracted because she had a squillion windows open on her machine trying to direct proceedings.

Excellent work to the brave crew who staged the event. Thanks for allowing this dude from OZ to join in.

Virtual realities are fun.. but alot of attention recently seems to be dircted towards a rather inaccessible one (Second life) has anyone thought about a text based one, which does not have joining fees, and lets people use their imagination rather than being force-fed images?

    Oh..yes.. there is cow :-)

I think your comment about taking a bit of time to get used to the new environment holds true with all such virtual worlds (no different in cow) I guess the thing is participants wanting to persist.

PS to make a pictureboard in cow, simple create a we object, edit it and type in “img: http://linktomyimage

Naturally this object can be read in an RSS feed.. as will all objects in cow.
