As suggested by CEGSA, I plan to share some of the stories of the experience my family and I have had with regard to Technology School of the Future (TSOF).
While asking my kids for stories my youngest daughter said ‘I went to TSOF on Thursday and it certainly isn’t closing down’. It turns out her class did some work on robotics and came home with some fantastic ideas about parallel vs serial processing. Here are two pearls from my little Gem:
- Christmas lights are serial, that’s why when one goes bung the rest stop working. (we looked outside at our fancy lights and noticed several strands were bung, but not the whole lot after the first bung one. She said ‘they must be a mixture of serial and parallel’). Priceless.
- Paralell processing is faster than serial, that’s how my brain works! (got me thinking that being ‘text challenged’ isnt such a bad thing - I may be crap at serialising letters and words into sentences, but I am great at imagining many complex pictures at the same time.
