Aussie Spiders, Snakes and Sharks

Ah, ya gotta love the Aussie summer.

Because of unusual numbers of large white pointer sharks at the beach near my home I have been sailboarding at a place called Boggy Lake the last few months. It is over an hours drive, and you never go there alone in case of a bite from the numerous brown snakes that like to sun themselves near the banks of the lake. Those same banks are coated with lots of cow pats so I carry a green tarp in the back of my car. Look who made his home in said tarp:

The cute little redback at the top of this post was discovered while cleaning behind a bed we had set up for the kids in our back living area - charming!
