TALO UnConference - in Adelaide next week

Thanks to Graham Wegner for pointing out that the upcoming ‘TALO swapmeet / unconference‘ is physically occuring in my own home town.  Living here in Adelaide, South Australia I spend a lot of time tuning into online events, feeling jealous of those north americans who can just drive across town for their fix of social networking.  So it’s kinda funny that it took a personal e/mail from Graham to make me realise this event I have seen in my RSS reader is something that I could physically attend!! (give or take the fact that I have already double/triple booked myself for most of March).

So, just what is an unconference or swapmeet?  Well I’m not sure, but here is what I have found out from the event wiki as it stands right now:

TALO ( Teach and Learn Online )
is an independent, international network of people interested in all
things eLearning, flexible delivery, online education, networked
learning, and web 2.0. TALO

The TALO unconference is an event where the
participants set the agenda - participants, whether face-to-face or
participating online, get to present, engage, and learn from the other
participants.

The first Swapmeet for the year will take place in Adelaide, Australia.
(For information on previous swapmeets/unconferences, look at the
events column in the nav bar).

participants often
explore technologies, practices and ideas that have yet to take hold in
the educational establishment - its a “think-tank” with a broad focus
on technology and learning.

TALO Swapmeet March 2007

WHEN?

Adelaide: 8 and 9 March 2007.
Specific times to be added nearer to the date - people beaming in from
other parts of the world can orient themselves to Adelaide time using
the World Clock.

WHERE?

Adelaide Institute of TAFESA

120 Currie St. Adelaide

March 8 - Room E305 9am - 5pm.

March 9 - Room E309 9am - 5pm.

Room E305 and E309 are on level 3 - eastern side of the building. Enter via the Rosina St entrance and take the lift to level 3.

Guess I’d better free up a couple of hours, head over to the WIKI and put some information about myself there.  Hope to see you there either physically or virtually.

Leigh - hopefully this means you will be there f2f? I’d better put a bit more effort into preparation for some fruity discussion on the use of CC and further legal / IP reforms required for innovation.
