I have been helping Education.au with their Web2.0 strategy and execution around events for over a year now. Today, they are running an event called ‘Generation MySpace’, with danah boyd in Brisbane - and I cannot be there. So, I get to observe the event online and share my findings via this post. Maybe we could treat this post as a kind of ‘remote event’ gathering (which makes me think we should organise a physical get together in Adelaide and report together) - in any case please leave comments / trackbacks with any other observations about the event (remember to tag eduausem2007 )
Interesting Pre Event stuff
- De’s podcast interview with danah
- These spontaneous, unpaid community service type advertisements for the event.
- These photos
- Twitters and FaceBook status upates from Nick Hodge and Mark Pesce
- This FaceBook event, set up by Janet. (includes members from London and Dubai who might check in to the event remotely)
Stuff from Monday 6th August
- First post live from the event goes to Nick Hodge!!
- Trying to get a twitter back-channel going with Mark Pesce
- Garry’s post (saying Melbourne podcast later this week)
- First photos from Mark
- Welcome Derek in the FaceBook event wall!
- Audio of GeekStories interview with danah (unedited).
Stuff that turned up after the event
- Twitter - frankarr: Wow danah boyd on the today show
- Podcasts - subscribe to http://blogs.educationau.edu.au/seminar/feed/
- local TV (sunrise) - danah turns attempted fear-mongering upside-down - YES! [if anyone has a more accessible version of the sunrise clip please share].
- GeekStories interview/chat
- My little video mashup
- Censored version of danah on thegeekstories
Random Coolness
- This post from Danah back in September about FaceBook RSS - put’s my recent rant in to a completely inverted perspective (I love that!). Also explains what Laurel eluded to on her FaceBook walled garden group. Makes my request to FaceBook for RSS look pretty stupid;-)
- Lolcatz, engrish, alt.tasteless, emo or chimo ? , WUT IZ UR GEEK STORY?
- Hey Jude spreads the love via twitter!!
- Some fascinating responses to the events on the blogosphere
