Episode 38 of Extraordinary podcast now up.

Just got an e/mail from the rooster saying that globalgeek podcast has been posted. (Need to get off my arse and post the extraordinary version of the show). I’d tell Dave but twitter is broken ;-(

The SL avatar sitting cross-legged in the middle of a group of people seated around a floor mat is ME - in the role of ‘Mike-rophone’. My Avatar was listening to the conversation around me, some ambient noise and background music and my computer was recording all that for a podcast.

I was also part of the conversation courtesy of another avatar, second computer and a headset.

The whole experience was rather engaging, let me try to paint a picture for you:

Dave (LifeKludger / Dave Koi) Wallace - my co-host on The ExtraOrdinaryEverydayLives podcast and Dave (Rooster) Gray from the Global Geek podcast decided to try recording a combined show from within SecondLife. They set up a joint script and I set about turning myself into a recording device. The plan was for the three of us to meet at Dave’s art place in SL and record a show. During sound check our esteemed leader (Cameron Reilly - founder of TPN) wandered into SL and joined me for a quick chat. Just before the start of recording the Daves thought it might be interesting to twitter our SLURL and see who might join us for the live recording.

What happened then was truly amazing - an impromptu ‘live studio audience’ appeared, sat around and listened to the Daves. Not many of them joined in when asked for input to the show during recording, but must hung around for a post show chat. I found it quite engaging and it has given me a squillion interesting ideas for future shows. We asked for some help in recording visuals - and before we knew it flickr images were starting to appear (thanks Velvet) !

Keep an eye out at the show pages for both Global Geeks (Episode 69) and ExtraOrdinary (episode 38) podcasts - the audio should appear in a day or two.
